I received my PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Oklahoma
in 2018, where I studied how new species form using damselflies as a model system.
After that, I taught at Oklahoma City Community College and conducted postdoctoral
research with the Oklahoma Biological Survey. I grew up in Colorado and received a
BS in psychology from Colorado State University and a BS in Biology from Metropolitan
State University of Denver.
I love spending time outdoors: hiking, road biking, mountain biking, swimming, and
gardening. I also make jewelry, mostly from used bicycle parts. If I can find the
time, I'd like to take up kayaking.
The National Park College community has been so welcoming. I came to NPC because
I felt a camaraderie with the faculty and staff I met during the interview process,
and I was intrigued by all the growth occurring at the College. I'm also impressed
with Hot Springs' natural surroundings.
I am looking forward to getting to know the students and figuring out the best ways
to provide opportunities for them to develop and grow their understanding of science
and appreciation of nature.
